Sustainable Red Oak used in 'Weaving Architecture'

Architecture studio Miralles Benedetta Tagliabue – EMBT presents ‘Weaving Architecture’ at the Biennale Architettura 2018 in Venice. Running until the 26th November 2018, the installation furthers the studio’s innovative experiments on architecture as fabric, using American red oak and fibreglass thread.

Weaving Architecture summarises a way of thinking which stems from Benedetta Tagliabue and EMBT's
experimental work through the years, starting with the wicker Spanish Pavilion of Expo 2010 Shanghai and now
seen at the Clichy-Montfermeil metro station, part of the Grand Paris Express, on the outskirts of Paris.
Weaving Architecture at the Biennale, deals with the concept of weaving on various scales: a metro weaving
through the city, people weaving through public space, weaving the canopy structure to dress it with fibre
fabrics.
